Pay Schedule VI, Grade 26, Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week

 

A vacancy exists in the Police Department, Professional Standards Bureau Strategic Planning & Accreditations Inspections Section.

Examples of Duties

Under general supervision, performs fiscal, administrative, and analytical duties on the Police Department’s Accreditation & Inspections Team, in the Professional Standards Bureau.

Examples of Duties 
 

  • Conducts detailed, recurring inspections of department personnel, facilities (including Precincts and Commands), and authorized equipment, to ensure compliance with established Departmental policies and accreditation requirements and standards.
  • Conducts detailed, recurring inspections of department vehicles.
  • Writes, prepares, and presents detailed, comprehensive reports regarding inspections of department personnel, facilities, authorized equipment, and department vehicles.
  • Ensures and reviews department policy to ensure inspection compliance.
  • Researches and reports on a variety of informational, operational, and management issues.   
  • Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of policies, procedures, operations, and methods.
  • Collects and compiles data.   
  • Performs statistical analysis of data.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned.  
  • May represent the department at meetings or on committees.

Qualifications

 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration, public administration, economics, or a related field.

(Experience involving the analysis and evaluation of budgets, systems, policies and procedures, organizations, and programs may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years for the required education.)

Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education
Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions.  Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.

 

Conditions of Employment

Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.   

Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification is essentially sedentary. Some positions may involve occasional travel between work sites.

Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.
