This position is located on all MTC campuses in the Operations department.
Must possess a Class 1 Law Enforcement certification in accordance with 23-6-430 of the Code of South Carolina 1976, as amended. High school diploma and two (2) years’ experience in law enforcement. Must have and maintain a valid SC driver’s license and a working knowledge of SC laws, rules and regulations. Must be able to pass a law enforcement pre-employment polygraph. Must be 21 years of age.
May be subject to dangerous and stressful situations on a daily basis. Must be able to work in extreme weather temperatures (hot/cold). Subject to emergency calls and additional scheduled work at any time and may be required to work on other campuses. Must possess skills to operate weapons and communications equipment. Must have the ability to investigate disturbances, incidents and violations, write reports, coordinate with law enforcement agencies, deal tactfully and effectively with students, faculty/staff and visitors. Must maintain certification with the SC Law Enforcement Academy by obtaining forty (40) credit training hours every three years and pass the state physical examination. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are key. Must be able to work shifts, including evenings and weekends. Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted and maintain the ability to physically perform the assigned duties.
