Description:

This is a GCPD Student Internship Program position. The work schedule for this position is a maximum of 130 hours for the entire internship. The Internship will start in July 2024.

 

Summary: The Police Department Intern will gain experience working a variety of duties and assignments to experience the technical support work of the Police Department and bolster the recruitment efforts. The intern will also work closely with staff from other divisions to assist with their needs.

 

Essential Functions:

 


  • Assist in managing specific or division-wide programs, including budget development, program policy, procedure development, and program administration and support.

  • Under direct supervision, the police intern is responsible for providing technical assistance in police department roles such as crime analysis, management analysis, or other related assignments as assigned.

  • Perform various sub-professional police technical support work, such as crime and intelligence analysis.

  • Communicates with supervisor, employees, applicants, citizens, other departments, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review the status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

  • Coordinate with other departments to obtain the required information.

  • Aid the recruitment team with scheduling, attending, and organizing events.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and keep to strict deadlines.

  • Good research and analytical skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications: 

 


  • College student in Criminal Justice or related field of study.

  • Applicants must submit a cover letter explaining (a) their interest in law enforcement along with what they hope to accomplish and (b) the dates available and the number of hours per week they are available.

  • Applicants must also submit (a) a college transcript (an unofficial transcript is acceptable for initial consideration); (b) a recommendation letter from a faculty member or past employer; (c) a resume; (d) a completed application.

  • Willingness to attend corporate events after hours and on weekends (if needed).

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Salary: The salary for this position is $20.00 per hour.
