PSEA.com is the internet’s best source of local government jobs. We list jobs ONLY in local cities and counties across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. We’ve been a presence on the internet for FIFTEEN YEARS – an accomplishment many job sites can only envy. The owners have years of local and state public service experience in senior management positions and employ a staff of dedicated and caring people.
We don’t have automated systems that troll the web and shove every bit of junk out there in front of you. We DO have real people on staff that personally search for the jobs most suitable to appear on our website, and thereby separate the junk from the jobs in the process. You will find everything from high-level, senior management jobs to entry level positions encompassing numerous fields of public service. Our site is perfect for students who are about to graduate or for long-time career professionals looking for a change – either by choice or by necessity.
When searching the internet for employment, how many times do you hit a dead-end in terms of a position that has been expired for months – or even longer?! Some sites claim to have tens of thousands of jobs, but we go to extraordinary lengths to make certain that our jobs are current. - Why would I want to join your site when I can do the same thing myself?
Because we provide value for you in two ways. First, our pricing is the most reasonable of any site available. For less than $5.00 per month (for a one-year membership), you are able to conveniently and effortlessly look for specific jobs at specific salaries in specific locales. Plus, we take pride in the fact that our site is extremely user-friendly. We created a site that we would enjoy using ourselves; however, we’re always striving to make it better and we always welcome and appreciate our members’ input.
Second, we save you the most valuable commodity you have: TIME. We visit THOUSANDS of sites each month; there are 18,000+ communities and 3,000+ counties in this country. The only way to effectively search this many sites is to have a full-time staff such as ours doing the arduous work for you. Oftentimes, we personally contact an organization for verification of a job. Unheard of? Maybe to others, but not to PSEA.com! We constantly check our proficiency in listing positions that have not yet been “found” by other employment sites. As an example, we recently listed city/county manager jobs in several cities. How is your site different from all the free sites out there? I may not have all the time you guys have, but I don’t have to pay them!
You are absolutely right. There’s an old adage: “You get what you pay your money for.” and that couldn’t be truer with PSEA.com. One of our members recently decided to go it on their own. The result? They gladly renewed their membership within two weeks. Here’s what they had to say:
“I started searching some of the well-known free sites for local government jobs. - What about job categories?
Sometimes positions are difficult to categorize as they may cover more than one of our categories. We DON’T list the same job in different categories like some sites do to make our total number of jobs look like more than we actually have.
We encourage you to look in different categories because you may find many positions that require skills that are transferrable from your specialty
It looks as if you don’t provide a full job description or listing in some cases—how come?
We want to provide you with as many job leads in local government as we can. Some information simply can’t be transferred efficiently. Therefore we always try to give you three essential pieces of information:
- The website listing for the job. The great majority of local government agencies will require that you apply through their site anyway. (As an aside, this is another advantage. When you apply for government jobs through other “private” sites, many of them collect information to sell to others or to cover you up with offers for other services. Why not go directly to the employer and protect your private information?)
- The salary (when it is available to us)
- The essential qualifications sought by the employer
When we can’t provide you with the complete information, we always give you the site location
- What are the types of memberships?
We have two types of memberships: personal and agency. With a personal membership, you can join for as short a time as a month or up to a year. Our annual membership is the best value for you because searches for local government jobs can take quite a while regardless of the level of the position. We know that some searches for senior management positions can take up to a year. For entry level and other jobs, the search can be several months long. With a one year membership, you access every job we list for a full year for less than $5.00 a month!
An agency membership allows any government agency to post AS MANY JOBS as they like for an entire year! This allows your agency to reach a huge number of qualified candidates all across the U.S. for a very low investment. Some profession-specific sites charge several hundred dollars to list ONE JOB for ONE MONTH!
- What other services do you offer members?
For those with a personal membership, we know how incredibly difficult a search can be. We will give you advice on your resume´ or just listen to your frustrations FREE OF CHARGE! For agencies we can even assist you in your recruiting efforts from writing the ad to indentifying the right candidate - at the best rates out there. Many government entities struggle with their budget and can’t afford to pay thousands of dollars for a search.
- What about closing dates?
A large amount of listings are posted by agencies as “open until filled”. On many occasions we check with the agency on questionable listings, but the sheer volume of listings doesn’t allow us to check them all. We will typically list a position for 3-4 weeks unless a definite closing date is shown.
We check with all our agencies on a regular basis for new and expired listings, but occasionally a listing will expire before we can remove it from our site. Our best advice to you is apply for a listing when you see it and don’t wait. We also encourage our members who find an expired listing to let us know and we’ll have it removed right away.
- Can the staff at PSEA.com answer questions about jobs?
No, because agencies sometimes make changes concerning a position or do not post all information about a position. It is always best to contact the agency with specific questions. We make every attempt to list contact information for our members.
